what is meant by mutually exclusive ?

Answer Explanation

Two events are said to be mutually exclusive then it means that both the events cannot occur together or If one event happens , then the other cannot take place. For eg
Let us say we will throw a die
Let A denotes the event that an even number appears on the die
B denotes the event that an odd number appears on the die.
Here both the events are mutually exclusive. If a happens then B cannot happen and when B happens then A cannot happen.

Thus , for mutually exclusive sets , A (intersection) B = 0
