Recession Has Not Affected The Profession
In the recent concluded campus placements conducted by Committee for members in industry (CMII) of ICAI during Mar-Apr 2009, 508 jobs were offered to the candidates. The highest salary for International posting is Rs 23 lacs p.a. offered by Tolaram Corporation Pvt Ltd, while highest salary for domestic posting is Rs 9 lacs p.a. offered by SEBI.

54 companies had participated in the campus placements & the average salary offered to the candidates by them is Rs 6 lacs p.a.
The sectoral breakup of the companies which participated in the campus placement is as follows:
1. Financial services – 30%
2. Banking – 20%
3. Oil & Gas Refining – 12%
4. Engineering Procurement & Construction – 8%
These figures show that when institutions of international repute are finding it very hard to attract companies to their campuses, ICAI has proved itself as an important destination for companies to recruit entry level finance, audit and compliance executives.
This serves as a piece of good news for students pursuing CA profession that CAs are not prone to recession.
